When I was in college, I read, and wrote, a lot of poetry. I loved soaking up all the words that past poets wrote to convey their emotions in metaphors. As I’ve gotten older, words sometimes elude me. Many times, I just don’t know what to say. I suppose being an introvert is to blame, but it’s also that space inside my head where fear still lives. I lost a friend a few years ago; he was killed in a car crash at just 29 ... so young with so much more life left to live ... His death affected me profoundly; and his passing made me realize that life is far too short to live in fear … to truly love people, right where they’re at … and to say all the things that you’re too afraid to say … because maybe, it might help others do the same. While fear has always been this thing that rests on my shoulders, I am grateful to have found writing again. I’ve learned and embraced that metaphors are the best way to move through the spaces that scare me most. And my hope in sharing these words and images, will help others find the courage to face their fears, and then overcome them. Drop me a line if you are a fellow writer! I'd love to read your work and share it!
